Members can become Moderators by establishing reputation. This can be established through either having a reputation of research expertise among professional peers or through contributing quality work to the database by creating or editing records that comply with the site’s ‘contributor guidelines’. The site records all edits against member names in order to generate statistics relating to activity, recency, most bookmarked etc. These statistics also generate information about ‘quality’ of edits. For example, members whose work is consistently accepted by Moderators will gain points.

Don’t worry if you make a mistake here and there, we all do! In the end the decision to make someone a Moderator is made by humans.

If you want to become involved (and if you want to eventually become a Moderator), the best way is through Projects. Find a public Project in your research area and join it – some Projects are invitation only, but you can always contact the Project Moderator and ask for an invitation. Or if you have access to quality research that you think the site needs, contact us and propose a Project.
