art student, made an 'Aboriginal Reference’ student workbook containing sketches, designs and printed textiles for Phyllis Shillito 's design course at East Sydney Technical College (ESTC) in 1947-49 (Powerhouse Museum 96/226/4). She began it in the second year of her four-year course and submitted it as part of her final assessment. Later, Barbara Abbott taught weaving at the Red Cross and had a career as a printmaker (Baddeley, cat. 6).
