photographer(?), is identified only by these initials on the cover of an album of photographs taken during the voyage of HMS Pelorus to Fiji, Tonga, the New Hebrides, Norfolk Island, Sydney and New Zealand in 1861 (Mitchell Library). Four of the photographs are group portraits of the ex-Pitcairn Islanders recently transferred to Norfolk Island, while two were taken in Sydney, one with Pelorus at anchor in Farm Cove, the other a close-up of the ship in dry dock at Cockatoo Island. It is uncertain whether 'C.B.C.’ was the photographer or merely the owner of the album. Michael S. Guy , one of the officers on board the Pelorus , was a known photographer but there is no evidence for attributing these photographs to him. When Guy sailed the South Pacific on CuraƧ oa the photographer on board was identified as Mr Carr . Perhaps he was 'C.B.C.’
