sketcher, was partly responsible for a watercolour sketch of H.M.S. Calliope in Sydney Harbour 1853 (Mitchell Library), which also carries the initials A.H.L. The view includes HMS Bramble (under Lieutenant John Ward) and the steamer Acheron (under Commander Richards). Captain Sir Everard Home was in command of the Calliope . Edward E. Miller painted pictures of ships and often signed his work with these initials, but he was living in Perth (WA) in 1853, a place also visited by the Calliope . Perhaps he painted the ship and A.H.L. added the background.
