illustrator, drew 'An exact Portrait of A Savage of Botany Bay’, which was engraved by John Chapman and published in London on 15 February 1795 (hand-coloured print RNK, NLA ill. NLA News May 2000, 5). Like the engraver, the artist was doubtless British. His drawing may have been taken from a sketch by Thomas Watling .
