  • Artist (Draughtsman) , (Painter)
The first names of the Prévosts (uncle and nephew), are not known. They pursued similar life courses as naturalists, sailing with the La Pérouse expedition. Tragically they never returned to France to relate their experiences, presumably lost with their ships, wrecked after leaving Australia.

natural historians, painters and sketchers, were appointed botanical draughtsmen to the ill-fated La Pérouse expedition. Prévost senior sailed in L’Astrolabe , his nephew in La Boussole . Some of their drawings from the earlier part of the expedition (1785-87) were reproduced in the Atlas volume of Voyage de La Pérouse autour du Monde (Paris, 1798). No Australian works survive and the Prévosts presumably perished when the two ships were wrecked off Vanikoro ( see Duché de Vancy ).
