painter, established his reputation in Britain yet had Australian connections, notably as a leader of the Royal British Colonial Society of Artists. Like E.A. Hornel and Bernard Hall , Gotch trained at the Antwerp Academy. He did brilliantly in the initial antiek class in winter 1877-78 (60/60), then left.
