Klaus Friedeberger

graphic artist, painter, cartoonist and illustrator. Born in Berlin; he came to Australia in the prison ship Dunera in 1940.

He was a member of the group of German artists who worked in Melbourne c.1940-49, including other "Dunera Boys", Erwin Fabian and Frederick Schonbach. He reputedly worked for the Australasian Post in 1945-46 when the art editor was Alan McCulloch, along with Albert Tucker, McCulloch himself, Schonbach and Fabian.

Studied at East Sydney Technical College, 1947-50 (won Mosman Art Prize 1949), then went to live and work permanently in London. He won a gold medal for his painting at Ostend in 1964.
