painter, was 'a mainly self-taught artist who painted detailed panoramas of his home town, Walhalla, in Gippsland'. He died on 6 June 1998, aged 105. 'The Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale, staged a retrospective exhibition of forty of his paintings in 1995.'
