A graphic artist and teacher who studied at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and the George Bell School. French also exhibited with the Victorian Artists' Society, winning numerous prizes.

Showed drawings with the Victorian Artists’ Society (where she won a prize for figure drawing in 1948, w/c prize in 1970, 1971, and special prize in 1972), Contemporary Art Society (Victorian Branch) and Albury Prize (graphics 1972) exhibitions.
