Lockyer began her career in commercial and domestic interior design in Brisbane working as Anne Lockyer Interior Design ca.1969. She became a member of the Society of Interior Designers of Australia and was the founder member and officer of the QLD chapter in 1971. She later moved her practice to Adelaide ca.1987 working under her original name. She retired in 2004.
