Stan Phillips was an art teacher who had been student at Perth Technical College in 1947-8 under Walter Rowbotham. He obtained his Art Teachers Certificate in 1950, his Diploma in 1957 and his Art Teachers Associateship in 1967.
He became a member of the Perth Society of Artists and was President at one stage. He was a senior education officer in the arts and crafts branch of the Education Department. He entered various competitions including the Bunbury Purchase Prize in 1960 and the Perth Prize for Drawing in 1966.
