painter, painted two oil on academy board views titled Blue Mountains, Bivouac (National Library of Australia). Both have been dated to about 1850 by National Library staff and both show two men camping on the plains with dramatic mountains looming up behind. The scenery does not look like the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, nor is any 'J.B. Goodrich’ known in Australia. Captain Thomas White Goodrich, however, painted oils in South Africa while stationed there with the Cape Mounted Riflemen in 1851-58.
