John White b. c.1756

  • Artist (Draughtsman)
Natural history collector, author and naval surgeon, he was chief surgeon on the First Fleet. He avidly collected specimens and drawings, but there is little evidence that he himself drew any of them. He was assigned the convict artist Thomas Watling, who seems to have been the hand behind his studies and topographical illustrations.
