Katharine Nix b. 1940

  • Artist
Born in Toowoomba in 1940, Katharine Nix first trained as an art teacher. She later specialised as a papermaker and paper artist, producing limited edition artists’ books. Her work has been exhibited across Australia and internationally in Japan. In 2003, she created The Garden during her residency in the Edition and Artist Book Studio at ANU (the Australian National University, Canberra).

    Description

    The Special Collections, Baillieu Library, University of Melbourne, comprise some 200,000 rare or historic books, serials and pamphlets and literary archives.

    The McArthur Bequest (1903) was the first substantial donation to the University Library, which has been followed by, among others, the Sir Russell Grimwade, Ian McLaren and Clern Christesen collections acquired in the 1970s.
