photographer, exhibited in first conversazione held by the Amateur Photographic Society of NSW at the School of Arts, Pitt Street, Sydney, in 1885 and won a prize in section 9, 'Three Groups’, another prize for six Lantern Transparencies in wet & dry plate processes section, in the ’3 Negatives’ section and in the 'Novelty’ section ( Sydney Morning Herald , 15 July 1885). His prizes were listed as '[section] G. Three Groups: A. Allen, 1; I. and J. Six Lantern Transparencies, wet and dray plate processes: A. Allen; V. Three Negatives: A. Allen, 1; P. Photographic Novelty: A. Allen, 2’ ( Sydney Mail , 18 July 1885).
