A Luritja artist, and Administrator of Papunya for many years. Her work is held in major art collections including the Holmes à Court collection in Western Australia.
Born in 1958, Alison Anderson is a Luritja speaker, and paints Honey Ant Dreaming for her home country Papunya, Women Dancing Stories and her Warlpiri father’s Bushfire Dreaming, which starts at the site of Warlukurlangu just south-west of Yuendumu and comes across to Mt Liebig, to the north of Papunya. When in her late twenties Alison Anderson was appointed Administrator of Papunya, a position she has held for many years. Her responsibilities in the community mean that she paints only intermittently, but she has been doing so consistently since the mid ’80s.
