signed a cartoon dated 1890 about Queensland’s preference for South Pacific Islander and Asian labour over caucasian locals, captioned A GRIM AND DASTARDLY RECEPTION . 'MOREHEAD (to immigrants): “Come along, you boobies. You thought this was the Working Man’s Paradise and you were going to have rosy times, did you? Well, you’re here all right! You’ve knocked up a big cheque in passage money for the B.I. Company; and now you’ll be taken in hand by our grim friend, STARVATION.”/ [One hundred and forty-four immigrants for Queensland arrived per R.M.S. India at Thursday Island, November 26. – DAILY PAPER.]. Published as the frontispiece of the Worker on 3 December 1892, the signature was undoubtedly a pseudonym and the artist almost certainly male, as in the case of other female names employed as protection.
