Brian McKinnon was born in Geraldton, Western Australia. He is a descendant of the Yamatji and Wongali peoples. His paintings are signed as “Tabulk” which is the name of his great-great-great grandmother who was from the Swan River tribe.

McKinnon spent two years travelling northern Italy where he exhibited his paintings.
