sketcher and merchant seaman, made the drawing from which A View of the Entrance to Port Philip Heads was engraved for the Illustrated Sydney News of 2 September 1854. The journal stated: 'We may here remark that the original drawings for several of our best illustrations have been supplied by gentlemen of merchant ships, a circumstance highly creditable to that service’.
