Also known as
née Keast Catherine Augusta Mitchell
Artist (Draughtsman)
Sketcher, came out from England to Tasmania in order to marry John Mitchell. Catherine Mitchell sketched her personal surroundings but never exhibited. There is some speculation though that she won a bronze medal at the 1866 Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition for a pine-resin varnish soluble only in spirit of wine that she had discovered at Oyster Bay.

Record history
Great grandchild John Mitchell correspondence: she was not the father of Henry Joseph Mitchell. As Henry Mitchell had two mothers recorded, Ellen Mitchell and Catherine Mitchell, and there was no mention of Henry in Catherine's bio, it seems likely that this is correct. -
