painter, illustrator, cartoonist and writer, was born in Sydney on 22 August 1920. He studied art with Dattilo Rubbo. Although best known as a painter and illustrator of historical subjects, he had cartoons in Australia: National Journal and in AustraliaWeek-end Book 1 (1942) during World War II, e.g. Shearer’s Cook .
