Charles Bonney sketched scenes of outback life while working on Momba station in outback New South Wales in the mid-19th century. He also took a number of photographs, most notably of the local Indigenous people.

photographer and sketcher, took photos of Aboriginal people when working on Momba Station in outback NSW from 1865 to the 1880s. A drawing of an Aboriginal woman 'from the Darling area’ smoking a pipe and wearing a crinoline frame (cf S. T. Gill ), attributed to Charles Bonney c.1862 [sic], is reproduced in Betty Beavis (ed.), Crazy for Crinoline (self published, 1989), 53. A comprehensive history and wide selection of photographs can be found in Robert Lindsay’s 1983 publication.
