professional photographer, worked in George Street, Sydney, between 1858 and 1869. He is listed at 215 George Street in Sands Sydney Directory for 1867. He possibly began his colonial career travelling around Victoria, for a Mr Bruce was displaying his stereo photographs of the Upper Yarra and Dandenong Ranges at Mr Norton’s shop in Collins Street, Melbourne, in June 1858. 'Submitted to the stereoscope’, wrote a reviewer, 'they present new beauties and realize so fully the characteristics of Australian scenery that they seem at once to recommend themselves as suitable presents for home friends’.
