Clewin Harcourt had a successful early career as an artist, both in Australia and in Europe. In his later years he lived a life of relative obscurity and was remembered more for his musical instruments than his elegant academic paintings.

Clewin Harcourt b.1870 in Victoria, originally trained as an artist but later went on to design flutes.
Harcourt studied with Fredrick McCubbin and Arthur Streeton at the National Gallery Art School in Melbourne.
Examples of Harcourts work are collected at the Powerhouse Museum.
