Cornelia Tipuamantumirri was born at Pirlangimipi where she acquired skill in weaving through assisting other artists, as well as instructing younger people in Tiwi dance. She married Steven Tipuamantumirri with whom she has a daughter, Dolores. She helped raise Harry Wilson, a Stolen Generation member from Peppimenarti, who later married artist Regina Wilson.
