Deborah Kelly began making socially engaged artwork in 1983. Collaborative projects include boat-people.org, graphic civil disobedience on refugees and the prize-winning public artwork series, "Hey, hetero!", with Tina Fiveash. She has given lectures and workshops around Australia and in Berlin, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Ottawa. She was invited by Martha Rosler to an artists' residency in Florida in 2002, where she produced a large collaborative artwork for Utopia Station in the 2003 Venice Biennale. Her work,"Beware of the God" - commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, and first shown in 2005 - was reiterated for the 2008 Singapore Biennale.
