Sydney painter Dongwang Fan was born in Shanghai, China in 1958. He pursued a formal art education at the Shanghai School of Arts and Crafts from 1977 to 1980 where he developed practical skills within the disciplines of painting, ivory carving, Chinese ink brush painting, drawing and sculpture.
