miniature painter, was listed as working in Pitt Street, Sydney, in 1832. This appears to be Richard Read junior, who was working in Pitt Street as a miniaturist at this time and who sometimes spelt his surname this way. A watercolour portrait of an unidentified woman in green (1838, Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales, Sydney, NSW.), apparently signed 'I. Reid’, and the unsigned watercolour A Sydney Lawyer (1843, Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales, Sydney, NSW.), attributed to 'Reid’, are almost certainly by Richard Read.
