Photographer, anthropologist and telegraph operator, known as Frank, worked at Alice Springs Telegraph Station in 1891-99. He was married to Amelia Maud (Minnie), née Besley, who was 22 in 1891. In about 1897 he photographed Polly and Dolly (Aritchenka), Minnie’s housemaids and nannies for the two Gillen boys, Brian and Jack (a copy of the photo is in the National Pioneer Women’s Museum, Alice Springs). In 1899 the family left Alice Springs for Moonta.

Frank is the Gillen of the famous Spencer and Gillen anthropological team (see John Mulvaney et al.).
