Born c.1862, F.J. Uren is believed to be a son of photographer James Uren (q.v.). He died on 16 February 1908 at the age of 46. Alexander Uren (q.v.) may have been a relative. Directory entries as photographer were:

1892–96 Douglas Street, Parkside
1897–1901 Taylor Street, Kadina
Frederick Uren was then listed as a publican at the Burra Hotel, Burra, for 1902–03, and the Sir John Franklin Hotel at Kapunda for 1904–06.
