draughtsman, was listed as the artist of a perspective view of the Sydney (Stock) Exchange which was exhibited in an architectural competition in 1853. By January 1857, when shown in the Fine Art Exhibition at the Mechanics School of Arts, the drawing was owned by the Sydney architect J. Dyer. The Sydney Exchange, as built, was designed by J.J. Hilly. Dyer appears to have been one of the unsuccessful competitors and Canning his draughtsman or perspectivist.
