heraldic painter, seal-engraver and lapidary, was working as such at Melbourne according to The Melbourne Commercial Squatters and Official Directory for 1856. G.O. Twentyman of 24 Collins Street West showed seal-engravings at the 1861 Victoria Exhibition; 'J.O. Twentyman’ (the initial presumably a misprint) was listed as a die-sinker and heraldic painter of 81½ Collins Street East when examples of his work, including heraldic painting, were shown in the 1873 London International Exhibition after being sent on from the preliminary Melbourne Exhibition. At the 1879 Sydney International Exhibition it was the firm of G.O. Twentyman & Son of Regent Street, North Richmond, that showed examples of 'Heraldic Painting in Water Colour’ and 'Impressions in Wax from Seal Engravings on Gems and Metals’ in the Victoria Court.
