George W. Priston was a professional photographer and photographic dealer. From 1864 to 1866 he and Jabez W. Small published Photographic News of the Month. This magazine was considered to be Australia's first photographic magazine.

George Wills Priston and his business partner Thomas Stephen Small presented an exhibit of photographic chemicals at this event, which received an honourable mention in the prizes awarded that year (The Argus, Thursday 14 February 1867, p. 1S).
