Rogers was an illustrator, the founder of the Brisbane Book Illustrators Group, a lecturer at the Queensland College of Art as well as a painter. His illustrations and design appeared for the Univ of Queensland press, childrens' books and other publications. He also helped establish the genre of illustrated books for older readers.
