Although Harold Hughan admired the genius of the Song and T’ang dynasty potters, his own practice as a studio potter was devoted to developing a distinctive Australian idiom.
Harold's son was definitely Robert Hughan (not Harold), ceramic scientist at CSIRO. This from several references, including : https://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/hughan-harold-randolph-12664 , https://www.australianpotteryatbemboka.com.au/shop/index.php?manufacturers_id=117 ,

plus personal communication from the Hughan family to this contributor (H.R. Hughan's Grand nephew) and personal communication from one of Robert's work colleagues at CSIRO (Prof John Drennan). However, I am happy to be corrected if there is another reliable source. -
