Henry Black

  • Designer (Furniture Designer / Cabinetmaker)
Black is a designer/maker who apprenticed in Patternmaking at the Garden Island Naval Dockyard, later studying at the Canberra School of Art . He preferred to make his major pieces at Don Lee's workshop in Fyshwick rather than at the School of Art. Black won a major furniture commission for the 1988 Parliament House, Canberra working with architect Aldo Giurgola on the design of the parliamentary chairs.
