Hugh Brackenridge was a sculptor and sketcher who exhibited in Sydney with the NSW Academy of Art in the late 1870s. In 1876 his pen and ink work was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Academy.

At the fifth annual exhibition of the NSW Academy of Art in 1876 Hugh Brackenridge, Amateur NSW, showed no.148, A Fireside Study – pen and ink – original – £15,15.0 and was awarded a Certificate of Merit for it (Sydney Mail 22 April 1876). At the following year’s Academy of Art exhibition “Mr Brackenridge [sends] a good sketch (no.152) [a drawing in pen and ink]” (Sydney Mail, 14 April 1877).
