sketcher, showed two pencil drawings – Group of Cochin China Fowls and King Charles’ Spaniel, 'Charlie’ – at the 1857 Geelong Mechanics Institute Exhibition. This may be the 'John Brown’ who was catalogued as showing Southampton Water, near Netley Abbey with the Victorian Fine Arts Society in 1853 and/or the artist John W. Brown .
