James Ogle Burgess, late RN, son of the late Rev. J.R. Burgess, married Eleanor Marie Evans, youngest daughter of Michael Evans of Flint House, New Town, Tasmania, on 3 June 1876, at St John’s Church, New Town (Mercury 10 June 1876, supplement p.2).
Exhibited with Art Society of NSW in 1880, 1881 and 1883.
First exhibition of Art Society of NSW in 1880: 'Mr Burgess has an animated sketch of “HMS Phoebe in a Gale”’ (Sydney Morning Herald 23 December 1880, 3).
