theatrical poster and comic strip artist, was born on 23 January 1917. Already a successful theatrical poster artist, he drew and wrote many second feature and one-page fillers as well as designing covers during the 1940s comic boom. He mainly produced comics of the detective, western, historical and science fiction genres, mainly for Press Feature Service and Horwitz Publications, although he also drew fillers for Frew Publications. He drew for the Larry “I hate crime” Kent series and the Edgar Wallace comics and also produced an Australian version of Billy the Kid . In the early 1950s he did fine work for the prestigious Silver Jacket (published by Beaconsfield Productions until 1956), painting covers and working on historical stories, e.g. the two-page strips The Pony Express and Eureka Stockade . Then he moved into illustration work for Peter Lane School Productions. He also did colour cover illustrations for magazines like Parade . Now retired, he continues to paint and draw.
