drawing and mapping teacher, advertised in October 1853 that he would soon be starting a class for 'mapping, pencil and watercolour drawing, including Flowers and Landscape’. Pupils could be taught at home, otherwise classes were to be held in the Pitt Street Congregational Church where Mr Miles (perhaps his father or brother) taught a variety of other subjects, including English and science.
