Painter, was born in Great Britain. He came to Australia in 1976 and lives in central Victoria, although he has worked mainly recording the natural history of remote north Australia (and more recently the Indonesian archipelago) in stunning, minutely detailed, large paintings. His series Tracing the Wallace Line 1999 was exhibited at Bendigo Art Gallery in 2001 in an installation that transformed the exhibition space into a model of the Earth’s dynamic system around the Wallace Line.
