Born at Yuendumu in 1971, Julie Gordon is a Warlpiri speaker. Her country is Mission Creek and she paints Snake, Witchetty Grub and Janganpa (Possum) Dreamings. She lives at Yuendumu and has connections with the Willowra community, but has worked with the Jukurrpa artists’ organisation in Alice Springs. Artist’s statement: 'I was watching my family doing painting at Yuendumu and Willowra. I started painting at Mt Barkley and at Willowra. My mother taught me to paint from my grandfather and grandmother .’
