Born in Mossman, North Queensland, Karen Gibson is from the Yalanji and Ngungal tribes of that region. Gibson began painting in 1984 and was represented in the 2006 'Gatherings II’ exhibition in Brisbane. She also paints traditional artefacts for the Mossman Gorge Aboriginal Community Gallery.
