Lady Barnes’s country was Yumurrpa, where she was born c.1940-2. Her language/tribe was Warlpiri and her principal Dreaming Yarla (Wild Yam). She lived at Lajamanu and started painting in 1986. She was the mother of Marjorie Nungarrayi Watson .
