Dhungutti painter, Lesley John Murdoch was born in Bowraville on the mid north coast of NSW. Murdoch is a self-taught artist who has been painting since 1995 and his work is inspired by the environments of the local bush and rivers around Bowraville. He has described his work in the catalogue of the 2005 Parliament of NSW Indigenous Art Prize as “a blend of optical illusions and surrealist twists.”
