Sketcher and carver, was the daughter of James Wilson and Jessie, née Moyes, of Tasmania. She spent much of her leisure painting and carving flora and fauna, and carving church furnishings.

Sketcher and carver, was the daughter of James Wilson of the Steppes and Jessie, née Moyes, of Bothwell, Tasmania, who married in 1871. (James assembled a scrapbook of cards, cut-outs, published poems and prose for his bride.) A 'lifelong conservationist’, Madge Wilson 'spent much of her leisure painting and carving favourite flowers, trees and birds, even putting them on the doors and fireplace surround of her home; she also carved church furnishings and painted texts, and befriended the fauna of the Steppes.’ Her father and Constable Ryan introduced trout to the Great Lake in 1870.
