Michael Meszaros was born in 1945, the son of Andor Meszaros, also a sculptor and medalist.

After first studying to become an architect during the 1960s, Meszaro was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 1969 to study medal-making in Rome, Italy at La Scuola Dell 'Art Della Medaglia.

Michael Meszaros medals are represented in numerous public collections, including Museum Victoria, the British Museum and the Royal Dutch Coin Collection, as well as many private collections in Europe, America, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
