It is largely thought that Allwood was a fabric painter given the handpainted set of d'oyleys she presented as a gift to the daughter of NSW Governor Hercules Robinson on the occasion of her wedding in 1878.
There is some speculation that Allwood was a fabric painter.
The wedding presents for the marriage of Alexander Kirkman Finlay and Nora Augusta Robinson, daughter of the Governor, Sir Hercules Robinson included 'a set of d’oyleys, painted from subjects in “Alice in Wonderland”, exceedingly pretty, from Miss Allwood’ ( Sydney Mail 10 August 1878, p.227).
